Kawannah Missions has joined with Rev. Ralph Adaijo to support the poor children in Gbawe, Accra. Gbawe is one of the poorest areas in Accra. Rev. Ralph, with the help of Compassion International, Cross International, and Kawannah Missions has established a feeding program for children that includes meals, money and supplies for school, and in some cases homes for children’s families who do not have a stable place to live. For example, for some children we will rent a home for the family, which requires two years advanced payment, to ensure that the children have a stable home environment while they are in school. Currently there are 367 children in the program. Children remain in the program until they graduate from secondary school and either attend University or enter the work force in Accra.
Rev. Ralph has 5 staff members that include nurses who provide medical care for the children, and a social worker who ensures that they have a safe home environment. The staff also includes administrative personnel to ensure that the program runs smoothly, as well as prepare reports for donor organizations. The program has operated successfully for 11 years and enabled several thousand children to receive a good education.
